Arts Council – Arts Participation Bursary Award

The Arts Council have announced an Arts Participation Bursary Award to support professional artists to develop their art practice.  It provides artists with the time and resources to think, research, reflect and critically engage with their art. Application opens on 14 June. Deadline: 14 July, 5:30pm. The Arts Council will hold an information clinic in association with Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts on Tuesday, 14 June 2016. The clinic will take place in the Training Room, 2nd floor, Filmbase building, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 from 11am – 1pm.  Read More


A Better Place in University Hospital Waterford

The Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) is delighted to launch the first of its planned series of exhibitions entitled A Better Place in University Hospital Waterford (UHW) on Thursday 2 June. This exhibition will feature a new body of paintings by artist Gemma Hodge called Terra Incognita which was selected for exhibition via a secret ballot by staff, patients and visitors in February from the work of 37 artists whose identity was not revealed during the voting process. This Is Not My Beautiful House – Seminar, Dublin

Age & Opportunity is working to create a society where we have more choices than compromises as we age. This Is Not My Beautiful House is a seminar which will consider how creativity, creatively charged communities and the arts can contribute to better ways of living as we get older. The seminar will specifically address the need to radically rethink traditional notions of ‘community’ and agency in shaping residential and community design that enhances human dignity and growth. The Bealtaine Festival celebrates its 21st birthday this year and runs nationwide throughout the month of May. Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust has a series of events programmed for older patients in Galway University Hospitals, Units 5 and 6 in Merlin Park and Roscommon University Hospital. A variety of arts events are scheduled including theatre shows, art workshops and music performances.
