Call for ideas: South Tipperary Positive Mental Health Festival 2016

To coincide with World Mental Health Day on Monday 10 October members of the South Tipperary Action Network (S.T.A.N.) are organising a Positive Mental Health Festival. The organisers are seeking individuals, groups or organisations to promote and share an event or organise an event during 7 – 15 October 2016. The aim of the festival is to celebrate positive mental health and the amazing achievements of people who have used the mental health services through a broad range of events. It also aims to increase information/awareness around mental health and the organisations/supports in South Tipperary. Read More

RSPH webinar – Movement, Dance and the Neurodegenerative Condition

The Royal Society of Public Health will stage the next in its series of online webinars on the theme of ‘Movement, Dance and the Neurodegenerative Condition’ on 5 July 2016. Chaired by Julian C. Hughes, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University, speakers will include Dr Richard Coaten, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Dr Sara Houston, University of Roehampton. Revelation exhibition at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny

Revelation is a limited edition of twenty nine specially commissioned prints created by members of Graphic Studio Dublin and invited artists on long-term display in the new Oncology Ward of St. Luke’s General Hospital Carlow/Kilkenny. The prints are from a collaboration between the National Gallery of Ireland & Graphic Studio Dublin and the collection is on long term loan by Dr. Abdul Bulbulia to the hospital. The exhibition will launch at 4.00pm on Thursday 21 July 2016, in the Oncology Day Ward at St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny (SLGHK). Read More

Marie Brett recipient of 2016 artsandhealth.ie Documentation Bursary

artsandhealth.ie is delighted to announce that visual artist Marie Brett is the recipient of a bursary to produce a documentation of her arts and health project Whispers?. The aim of the artsandhealth.ie bursary award is to encourage high quality, creative documentation of arts and health practice nationally. Filmmaker Colm Mullen will make a documentary film about Whispers? an arts and health project partnership between Marie and St Francis Hospice, Raheny, Dublin. The project, which will take place later this year, aims to explore personal and collective experience in relation to ideas of death and care. Read More

Recollect exhibition at University Hospital Galway

Recollect is an exhibition by artist Noelle Gallagher on display at University Hospital Galway until 4 July. The exhibition can be found on the Arts Corridor and features new and recent works including a series of artworks produced in response to a residency in Powerscourt Townhouse in Dublin. Also included is a series of paintings depicting Earlsfort Terrace, a place close to many University Hospital Galway’ s medical staff hearts, who studied in UCD. Read More
