Songbirds

Songbirds is a music-making project run by LIME Music for Health at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. It’s one of five projects which make up the Youth Music-funded programme Medical Notes: Music at the Heart of Life. The programme aims to improve the hospital environment for families and staff and help children communicate through music. In this clinical setting, music helps children develop their personalities, grow stronger and recover. Songbirds has been selected for a case study by Youth Music. Read More

Age & Opportunity is recruiting an Arts And Culture Co-ordinator (Part-Time). The Bealtaine Festival, which celebrates creativity throughout our lives, is Ireland’s largest collaborative arts festival, and one of the oldest festivals of its kind, having inspired a number of similar international festivals. Although the festival is at the centre of Age & Opportunity’s arts and culture programme, other initiatives such as Samhain (an event that looks at the darker side of ageing), Cultural Companions (a membership-based group of people interested in attending arts and cultural events together), and Beosach (Age & Opportunity’s international arts and culture journal) make up the arts and culture programme. Exhibition: Phantom Limb, Liverpool

Phantom Limb is an interactive exhibition focusing on medicine, memory and the treatment process on view at the University of Liverpool Victoria Gallery and Museum from 9 July to 3 December 2016. It features as part of the Liverpool Biennial 2016 Fringe. It features around twenty works by nine artists, most of whom work from their own personal experiences of operations and illnesses.
