Sarah Cairns is the Activities Co-ordinator in St. Joseph’s Unit at Bantry General Hospital, West Cork. The unit provides long-stay, respite, and palliative care to older people. In 2018, Sarah supported the development of Stories from the Well-Field, an interactive performance created by residents of St. Joseph’s Unit in collaboration with artist Tess Leak, puppeteer Eoin Lynch and composer Justin Grounds.  Read More

Watch ‘Stories from the Well-Field’: artsandhealth.ie documentation bursary recipient 2018

Following a two-year residency in St. Joseph’s Unit, Bantry General Hospital, artist Tess Leak collaborated with a group of residents, puppeteer Eoin Lynch and composer Justin Grounds to create ‘Stories from the Well-Field’, bringing to life residents’ poems about enduring childhood friendships. Tess Leak and filmmaker Sharon Whooley were awarded the 2018 artsandhealth.ie documentation bursary to capture the project on film.  Read More

artsandhealth.ie announces recipient of 2019 documentation bursary

The artsandhealth.ie documentation bursary is an annual award which aims to encourage high quality, creative documentation of arts and health practice nationally. The 2019 bursary has been awarded to John Conway, who will work with Dr. Sheelagh Broderick and Conor Foran to create a publication exploring Other People’s Practices (OPP), an artist-in-residence / research programme founded and directed by Conway.
