Create
Mission / Aims
Create is the national development agency for collaborative arts in social and community contexts. Create’s work provides a framework for peer learning across the range of contexts – arts and health, arts and community, arts and older people, arts and disability, arts and cultural diversity, arts and prisons – and across the range of artform disciplines – visual arts, theatre, architecture, film, music, literature, dance, opera, traditional arts, circus and spectacle . Our work is focused on supporting and developing peer learning networks to secure greater visibility and advocacy for the range of practices and partnerships that informs contemporary collaborative arts practice.
Areas of activities
Create manages the Arts Council’s Artist in the Community Scheme, which is open to arts and health practitioners. Create provides advisory support to interested applicants, as part of our management of the scheme and we programme continuing professional development workshops, public talks and related events to assist the professional skills development of practitioners and the dissemination, advocacy and critique of arts and health as a specific field of collaborative arts practice.
