Mission / Aims

The aims of Sligo Arts & Health Programme are outlined in HE+ART A Participatory Arts & Health Strategy for Sligo 2007-2012. Augmented by local, national and international research, HE+ART taps into over a decade of learning acquired by health service users, older people, children, artists, arts administrators and health professionals.

Areas of activities

An ongoing annual programme of arts and health workshops and activities in partnership with: the HSE West Services for Older People and Health Promotion; artists; the Arts Council of Ireland; schools and community groups. The programme delivers: intergenerational projects; arts projects in day care and residential settings and with active age groups; the annual Bealtaine Festival; and the REFLECT LAB Co-mentoring project with Helium to provide cross-sectoral professional learning opportunities with a view to advancing arts and health partnerships which benefit children.
