Westmeath County Council

Mission / Aims

Westmeath County Council aims to provide access, appreciation, awareness and enjoyment of the arts for all involved in arts and health initiatives in order to further include all members of the community in arts practice and to encourage a policy-based approach to the development of arts and health in the county.

Areas of activities

• Improving the structures and mechanisms for the delivery and engagement of the arts in health care settings;
• Developing partnerships with key local agencies and arts organisations to develop a comprehensive programme and models of best practice and in the area of arts and health;
• Exploring the developmental nature of the arts within health settings, through implementation of best practice projects through ongoing monitoring and evaluation;
• Expanding and developing Westmeath County Council’s existing Arts in Context residency scheme with particular regard to health care settings.
