Arts in Health Research Cluster: Launch and Talks, Limerick

The launch of the newly established Arts in Health Research Cluster will take place on 30 March 2017 at The Health Hub, text to replace with Rutland Street in Limerick City. Formed by academics, clinicians, patients and artists from the University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick Institute of Technology and the Limerick School of Art and Design, the group is the brainchild of Dr. Hilary Moss of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at UL. Free talks from group members on a variety of topics will take place throughout the day including the use of visual art to explore the experience of being a person with cancer, the use of puppetry in disability, and the benefits of set dancing for people with Parkinson’s disease. Making the Impossible Possible – Artist Talk with Rachel Tynan at WHAT

Artist Rachel Tynan presents WHAT’s annual talk entitled ‘Making the impossible possible‘ at the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health Centre, text to replace with University Hospital Waterford, on 6 April. Rachel Tynan has worked with Helium Arts, the national children’s arts and health organisation, since 2012. As Artist in Residence on both Cloudlands and Fireflies, Rachel has collaborated with teenagers in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital to develop work based on their interests and experiences. Creative Ireland – Local Authority Community Engagement Workshops

Creative Ireland is the Government’s Legacy Programme for Ireland 2016 – a five-year initiative, text to replace with from 2017 to 2022, which places creativity at the centre of public policy. Open meetings are currently taking place across the country, inviting members of the general public, as well as representatives from all sectors of the local community, to join the discussion about how the Creative Ireland programme will enable creativity for all citizens. Call for submissions: Creatively Connected Online Film Festival

Submissions are currently being sought for the first Creatively Connected Online Film Festival, text to replace with organised by The Foundation for Art & Healing, U.S. The aim of the festival is to give filmmakers a chance to add their voice to the timely conversation about one of today’s major health issues – the burden of loneliness and isolation. Submissions should explore the challenge of loneliness and isolation and how creative expression could or does reduce that burden for either individuals or groups.
