West Cork Gamelan

The gamelan is a spectacular set of tuned bronze percussion instruments played by an ensemble of up to 20 musicians. It comes form the island of Java in Indonesia, text to replace with where it is a central part of traditional culture, and is used in community music settings all across the globe due to its accessibility and simplicity. A set of these instruments has recently arrived in Skibbereen and will be launched on Monday 10 October as part of Mental Health Week and West Cork Feelgood Festival. Read More

Singing priest Liam Lawton, text to replace with broadcaster Evelyn Grant and world renowned musician Mel Mercier will headline a sparkling programme of events during International World Mental Health Week in Bantry this October 2016. The songwriter priest will perform with the Bantry Community Choir and the award-winning Seoda Chamber Choir at a Live Life and Sing concert, hosted by Lyric FM’s Evelyn Grant at Bantry’s Maritime Hotel on Friday 14 October. Culture, text to replace with Health and Wellbeing International Conference, Bristol 2017 invite abstracts for presentations, workshops, performances and films that provoke new ways of researching, conceptualising and creating and will encourage delegates to question assumptions and learn about different approaches to current issues and areas of practice. The conference will encourage lively debates and not shy away from the different and sometimes contradictory perspectives on culture and the arts, health, wellbeing and health inequalities.
