Marie Brett, who formerly received a Research and Development award through the Artist in the Community Scheme, has now been awarded a Project Realisation Award in the 2011 Second Round of the Scheme.
Marie will work with Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUH) on her project entitled The Amulet. The Amulet will explore the concept of the amulet as an object signifier of ethereal farewell, a talisman for bereavement memory specific to pregnancy loss and use dialogue and creative expression with a key group of women to produce a series of artworks, linked events and publications. Marie will further develop ideas seeded through the Research and Development Award to develop an ambitious multi strand project.
