A new discussion group was launched recently on the LinkedIn website. The Music and Health Ireland group is a step to promote contact, discussion, and support between people working with music in healthcare contexts in Ireland.
The impetus for the discussion group came from a one-day seminar held in the Waterford Healing Arts Trust in early September 2011. The seminar, facilitated by Kevin O’Shanahan of MusicAlive, was an opportunity for people working with music in healthcare contexts to upskill and share. The intention is to hold similar seminars every 6 months or so at various locations in Ireland.
The LinkedIn group is intended as a way to stay in touch between seminars. At the moment the Music and Health Ireland group is a ‘members only’ group, so you simply have to ask to join. The group’s members can decide to make it an ‘open group’ at a later date, thereby allowing for the discussions to be viewed by everyone.
