MAC is an intervention by PhD artist researcher Sheelagh Broderick emerging as a response to workshops held with healthcare professionals earlier this year.

The intervention comprises of generative artworks that confront the viewer with familiar cultural artefacts. A hospital trolley invites active intervention whilst a camera observes. Spectators are given the opportunity of joining a fictional organisation The Society for Medicine as Culture and of shaping it by defining its boundaries, its practices and its ambitions. These interactions can be continued online with a social media interface that also acts as a platform for documenting the work as it develops. As part of the intervention an invitation is being extended for an interdisciplinary encounter at a seminar on Friday 11 November 2011 at 2:30pm. The exhibition will be opened by Ann O’Connor, an independent arts consultant specialising in arts participation and arts and health.
