Following on from the success of a pilot participatory music programme earlier this year the Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) is now running this programme in Newport Day Care Centre, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. The programme is led by Liam Merriman on a one-to-one basis with mental health service users.

Liam Merriman is working with 4 clients in voice, banjo, drums and creative writing. The programme offers progression opportunities for service users who have been involved in the WHAT participatory music programme since 2009.

According to the Clinical Nurse Manager Mairead Jacobs ‘as always the clients benefit greatly from the music sessions. They deliver freely any hidden talent, be it a song, instrument or a beat.’

The programme is co-funded by Waterford County Council Arts Office. For further information contact Gavin Barr or Mary Grehan on 051-842664.
