It will be officially launched by John Behan RHA on Friday 16 December on the Arts Corridor University Hospital, Galway.  Art@work 9 will remain on display until 30 January 2012 .  Members of the public are welcome.

This is one of many art initiatives happening in Galway University Hospitals.  A selection of the hospitals’ collection is currently on display in the corridor of St. Finbarr’s, the outpatients’ corridor and various wards throughout University Hospital and Merlin Park University Hospital, including work by Louis le Brocquy and Alice Maher.  Various artists and musicians work with patients weekly on various art initiatives.  Other projects include staff art workshops, a creative day for staff, art and music for patients.

Jack McCann retired consultant will launch his first book of poetry entitled Turning on a Sixpence on the Arts Corridor at 1.00pm on Tuesday December 20th.  Jack attended writing workshops facilitated by writer Maire Holmes and organised by Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust while he worked in University Hospital, Galway.  He is now a member of Knocknacarra Writing Club where he continues to attend workshops by Maire Holmes.
