The Waterford Shadow Puppet Theatre’s performance of Loneliness will take place in Garter Lane Theatre, Waterford, on Thursday 24 May 2012 at 2pm. The performance is just one of the events that Garter Lane is running for the Bealtaine Festival 2012.

In September 2010, Respond Housing and a number of agencies including St Brigid’s Family Resource Centre, Waterford Healing Arts Trust and Waterford V.E.C. set up a men’s group that focused on issues such as loneliness, relationship breakdowns, depression, addiction and suicide. Philip Cullen, a local artist and sculptor has facilitated the men’s group to date and they have produced a short drama in the medium of shadow puppetry to illustrate some of the aforementioned issues.

The event will also include a viewing of a video entitled We are the Angels which focuses on the early stages of the group and the process leading up to the first performance.

The event is free of charge.
