The Global Alliance for Arts & Health will hold its 24th annual international conference, Healing Communities through the Arts, from 11-12 April 2013 in Washington, DC, USA. The conference invites submissions of abstracts on the theme of the use of the arts in community settings to promote resilience and healing in the face of crisis or for public health. The deadline for submissions is 11 January 2013.
Suggested presentation topics include: hospital/community arts and health collaborations; arts for marginalized populations such as refugees, immigrants, or indigenous people; arts for wounded warriors; arts for war-torn communities; and the arts and public health.
Accepted member presentations at the 2013 conference must be given in the style of PechaKucha 20×20, in which presenters speak together with a PowerPoint containing 20 images. Each image will be displayed on screen for 20 seconds, so the total presentation time is 6 minutes, 20 seconds.
