The Crawford Art Gallery in Cork is developing a service for individuals with dementia and their family members and caregivers. The Lonradh programme will involve groups of 6 – 8 people visiting the gallery in February and March 2013.
Participants will look at and discuss paintings, have tea in the gallery library and there will also be the option of taking part in art-making activities with artist facilitators Gillian Cussens and Julie Kelleher. This programme is specifically designed for individuals with dementia and their family members and caregivers, with visits facilitated by experienced education staff. The gallery is wheelchair accessible.
The Lonradh programme is free of charge. No experience in art is required – everyone is welcome!

The Lonradh programme is named after a stained glass window in the gallery made by James Scanlon. The irish word ‘lonradh’ means to radiate / illuminate.
