Event
Springboard, the new exhibition at the Civic Square Gallery at Gorey Library, features recent works in painting, ceramics, print and textile from the Five Towers Art Group. The exhibition is open from Friday 21 June, with the official launch on Thursday 27 June with guest speaker Dr Ray Goggins.
Springboard is a pleasant melange, a sojourn through the elements that represent the seasons. It moves from the seeds that lay dormant beneath the soil to grow with great impetus in the following periods. Explorations in mono-print focus on the repetition of patterns and hybrids of animals and exotic foxes. A long woven textile piece represents a springboard. Vividly coloured paintings can be dived into, culminating in A Bigger Splash.
Five Towers Art group have their studio in Enniscorthy. It is supported by Wexford County Council’s Arts Department in partnership with the HSE through the Arts Ability programme. It is an arts and health initiative, which supports the creation of artwork in the healthcare context at St Senan’s Recreational Therapy Unit. This year Arts Ability is celebrating ten years since its inception.
Springboard is a touring exhibition. It will follow with further viewings at Bunclody Library and Enniscorthy Library. The exhibition runs at the Civic Square Gallery, Gorey until Friday 5 July. Springboard is open from Monday to Saturday from 10.30pm until 5pm. The gallery closes for lunch from 1pm to 2pm on Monday and Saturday with a late night opening on Thursdays until 9pm.
