In January, the second issue of HeadSpace Magazine was launched. HeadSpace is a literary and artistic anthology themed on mental health, which is distributed for free to hospitals and mental health support centres. The magazine was set up to address the lack of appropriate reading material in wards and waiting rooms, and to provide a forum where people with experience of mental health issues could communicate their experiences, thereby increasing public understanding of mental health.
Issue 2 has so far been distributed to hospitals, clinics and support centres in Dublin, Cork, Carlow, Laois, and Westmeath, and features poems, art, short stories, personal experience articles and photography. HeadSpace can be purchased online for €5 including shipping, with all proceeds going back into providing free copies to hospitals and resource centres. Click here to purchase a copy.
Submissions for the next issue, to be launched in the summer, will open on 12 March 2014. To keep up to date like www.facebook.com/HeadSpaceForAll or subscribe to the mailing list by emailing info@headspace-magazine.com. Services that are interested in acquiring the magazine free of charge for their clients can also get in touch via email.
