Opportunity
Create, in partnership with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) and Coolmine Therapeutic Community is seeking expressions of interest from artists and craftspeople with experience of working within the context of substance misuse and recovery, to create a new contemporary collaborative artwork utilising clay as a key material. Deadline for submissions is 19 May 2014.
This commission invites proposals from artists, makers, ceramic artists and artist partnerships. The commission is funded by Léargas through the Grundtvig Programme, which is part of the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme, focusing on education for adults, through formal, non-formal or in informal methods.
The Typecast Project was instigated by Portraits of Recovery in partnership with the British Ceramic Biennial as a pilot in 2012. This iteration of the project, Typecast 2014, involves an EU learning collaboration across six countries in order to develop and share methodologies, which support artists working with people in recovery from substance misuse.
Typecast centres on the use of clay as a medium, material and process, offering an opportunity to artists to work collaboratively with a community in recovery to explore ideas that may stem from the groups’ experience.
Brief
We are seeking proposals from artist(s) with a track record of collaborative arts practice within the field of arts and health. The commissioner is seeking innovative and transformative contemporary art responses.
