Peer dialogue for professional artists working in arts and health participatory practice

Date posted: 9 June 2014

Artist Sarah Ruttle invites you to the WHAT Centre for Arts & Health, University Hospital Waterford on Friday 20 June from 10am – 1pm to participate in a peer dialogue for professional artists working in participative art within Arts and Health. This event is a professional development opportunity as part of her ongoing investigation exploring tensions that arise in confidentiality, decision making and consent within an arts and health context. This peer dialogue provides artists an opportunity for interaction with other artists working within arts and health to specifically examine how these ethical constraints influence a commitment to artistic outcome through participatory art with its planning, art creation and curating of artwork for exhibition.

Focus areas within health for this dialogue will include Mental Health, Alzheimer’s and Oncology creating a conversation through these and all other sectors with their own sets of concerns, circumstances and demands.

Visual artist Sarah Ruttle has six years experience working within an arts and health context and is undertaking this research with the support of the Arts Council’s Art Participation Bursary Award.
