The Board of Create, Ireland’s national development agency for collaborative arts, is seeking to recruit an experienced Director to lead this dynamic and vibrant arts organisation to the next stage of its development, nationally and internationally. This vital and exciting role will be of interest to senior arts leaders who have ambition, drive, vision and a passion for the arts plus a genuine interest in the role of great art and artists in broader civil society. We are seeking candidates who have direct experience of cultural leadership and in implementing inspiring interdisciplinary programmes of artistic work. Create aims for excellence in all strands of its programme, including commissioning, producing and broader public engagement with different communities. In recent years Create has initiated and supported some of the most exciting projects by collaborative artists in Ireland.

Candidates will be able to work well in a creative team and will have a strong track record of general management and financial skills.

Experience in generating partnerships and funding support is key to this role as is an ability to collaborate and network across arts and culture sectors, and beyond. An understanding of International funding opportunities is essential, as Create expands European partnerships. An understanding of contemporary collaborative practice is essential, and knowledge of the visuals arts, theatre and dance sectors is desirable. Experience of devising and managing commissioning processes is highly desirable; a track record of programming arts events, talks and seminars will be an advantage.

Preference will be given to those who have senior arts management experience for a period of no less than 3 years.

This is a full-time, fixed term, contract for a three-year period.
