A new website has been launched by artist Marie Brett, which charts the arts and health project entitled The Amulet. Initiated by the artist, and involving collaboration with bereaved parents, and partnership with maternity staff at three Irish Hospitals, (Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH), University Maternity Hospital Limerick and University Hospital Waterford) – the project received extensive arts, health and community based advise and support. The Amulet is innovative, and said to have considerably developed arts and health work nationally, forging a new means of participatory practice.
The new website holds together five years of project activity, including a research phase at CUMH and Oxford Universities Pitt Rivers Museum, and the site is being updated throughout a national exhibition tour, supported by an Arts Council Touring and Dissemination Award, (2014-15).
Féileacáin, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland, have supported the artist to produce the new resource, and there’s loads of audio, video, essays and images to explore, as an exemplary resource for the arts and heath, and participatory practice sector.
