Arts + Health Co-ordinators Ireland (AHCI) is an all-Ireland support network of professionals who are responsible for managing arts and health initiatives. World Mental Health Day 2014 will be the focus of numerous events organised throughout Ireland. Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) will celebrate/highlight World Mental Health Day 2014 with three events; a one-woman show – Here come the girls (and boys), a poetry/prose event – We haven’t had an earthquake lately and a tour of the exhibition Sparks. These events will all take as part of Well, a festival of arts and wellbeing in Waterford running from 6 – 11 October. Well, a joint initiative of Garter Lane Arts Centre and Waterford Healing Arts Trust, aims to explore and celebrate the benefits of participation in the arts for each individual and the whole community. For more information on these events or the Well festival 2014 please contact WHAT on 051-842664 or email WHAT@hse.ie.

West Cork Mental Health Forum has joined forces with the HSE and Clonakilty’s Wellness Committee to provide a festival of the arts and wellbeing – which is open to all the community from 6 – 12 October. Inspirational speakers, drama performances, music, visual art, creative writing and drama workshops are all part of the region’s very own ‘Week like this’. One such event takes place in the Quality Hotel in Clonakilty on Friday 10 October at 11.00am where leading authors Louise O’ Neill and Fionnbar Walsh will talk powerfully about their work. The complete schedule for the week is available at www.facebook.com/westcorkartsandwellness.

A Tipperary pop-up event, Nest Space runs from 6 – 11 October in Clonmel and created by Beehouse Arts in collaboration with Art Hive, Voluntary Groups, Mental Health Services, the community, friends and family to promote awareness and provide information in a creative, social and enjoyable environment. Nest Space includes a public participatory artwork called the Mapping Project, a cafe and a host of workshops/talks.
