Join Helium Arts on 28 March at IFI!

Helium Arts invites you to their film screening on 28 March at the Irish Film Institute where they’ll be showing their brand new film made in collaboration with CanTeen Ireland, the nationwide support group for young people who have or have had cancer. Mythbusting with CanTeen was made as part of Helium’s Two Suitcases Project. David Rawle (Martin Moone from Moone Boy) will launch the screening. Read More


Pilot Project: Contemporary dance classes for people with Parkinson’s Disease

A new pilot project of contemporary dance classes for people with Parkinson’s Disease will be led by professional dance artist, Ailish Claffey in DanceHouse, Dublin in April/May. Ailish has trained in Dance for Parkinson’s Disease with David Leventhal, Mark Morris Dance Company, Brooklyn, US. The class is open to all and carers, spouses and friends are welcome to join in.

Creative Exchanges Programme Dublin

Age & Opportunity’s Creative Exchanges course will take place this summer in the Irish Museum of Modern Art . Participants will develop the skills needed to plan and facilitate arts activities for older people in residential and day care settings. In line with the person-centred approach promoted by HIQA National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People, this course is designed to help participants to provide meaningful and purposeful opportunities to engage older people in arts activities. Life Class by Dr Conleth Murphy, Jennings Gallery, UCC

Life Class is Dr Conleth Murphy’s first solo exhibition at the Jennings Gallery, UCC which opens on Wednesday 25 March (6pm) and runs until Wednesday 6 May 2015. The images in this exhibition are a combination of mixed art and traditional life drawings selected from his evening art classes. In the mixed art selection, Conleth merges his medical and artistic sides in a tongue-in-cheek fashion: perspex eyes through which one can visualise the retina, X-rays peeking through portraits and pop-art images of a scalp cooler designed to prevent chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
