deAppendix will host Possibility,  the current body of work by sculptor Mags O’Dea, from 15 September to 16 October 2015. deAppendix is a visual art gallery in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, co-located with the Amaranta Family Practice run by Dr. Ciara McMahon.

With Possibility, Mags O’Dea, a recent graduate of NCAD (glass), consciously pushes for the edges of what her chosen material – both metaphorical and physical – can do. In Possiblity, influenced as it is by her former career as an orthopaedic nurse, constituents come alive. The artist appears to work in relationship with objects, resulting in an almost unconsciously collaborative show which playfully, obliquely or gently *mal-forms* its (s)objects. The result is is an elegant, and frequently humorous, assemblage of auditory and sculptural forms.

Mags O’Dea is a visual artist undertaking her Masters in Fine Art Sculpture in NCAD. In 2014 Mags graduated from NCAD with a B.(Des.) in Glass. Life’s experience and nursing strengthen the concept of care that is foremost in her work. The work engages with mediums such as sculpture, video and audio to embrace and question human social issues. Mags is interested in the catalytic effect of art as a change agent. In recent work, she has captured the fragility and vulnerability of a person when confronted with illness. The effect is created using materials such as found materials, wheelchair parts, household paint, latex and drains.
