Opportunity
Galway University Hospital Arts Trust will host a free professional development workshop for artists and art and play therapists at Baboró International Arts Festival for Children. ‘Hands-On Healing’ will take place on Monday 12 October at 1.30pm in the Galway 2020 Community Hub.
Artists Deirdre Rogers and Orla Kelly will use items which are a delight to the senses such as wool, paper, plastics, fabric, tubing and foam. These materials enhance the visual experience, encourage the development of motor skills as well as exploring the senses through verbal and non-verbal communication. This practical workshop will explore creative activities that can be used within a hospital or healthcare setting.
‘Using the medical tubing in a creative activity is a great way to familiarise the children with them in a fun way.’
– Art Therapist from the National Centre for Arts & Health, Tallaght Hospital
This workshop is suitable for those working with children and adults in the health sector.
