Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office is hosting Azure Tours for people with dementia to engage with the Amongst Other Things exhibition in February 2016. This exhibition of new artworks by Felicity Clear and Helen Hughes opens in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire on 30 January. Both artists are interested in urban space and architecture, drawing on the modern architecture of dlr LexIcon, the urban environment of Dún Laoghaire and each other’s artistic practice as inspiration.
The Azure Tours provide an opportunity to try something different with a loved one living with dementia. Julie Merriman and Terry O’Farrell, both trained to support people with dementia, will explore and discuss a selection of artworks in these tours. There will also be time to enjoy a cup of tea and chat about the experience at the end of the tour.
Dates
Monday 15 February: 6-7.30pm – Gallery
Tuesday 23 February: 2.30-4pm – Gallery
Each tour looks at different artworks and you are welcome to attend both but booking is essential. The person living with dementia must be accompanied by a family member or carer.
