The use of arts as ‘healing’ can be traced back as far as our Neanderthal ancestors, but how much can the arts truly support health and wellbeing in society today?
This webinar will explore the use of the arts within hospitals and healthcare across history, discuss some of the major research findings, and use a number of case studies to explain how art forms including music, dance and arts-based technology can support different mental and physical health conditions.
The speakers will focus in particular detail on an example of an innovative healthcare programme that integrates magic tricks into therapy, and is now being commissioned by the NHS in place of existing medical interventions. This programme highlights how the role of the arts can play a core and vital role in improving health and wellbeing today.
