Leitrim County Council Arts Office seeks interest from artists who wish to participate in the 2016 SPARK artists’ residency programme at Prior PLM Medical in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim. As part of the Spark Programme, Leitrim County Council Arts Office and Local Enterprise Office together with Prior PLM Medical is looking for an artist to work with the management and staff at Priors. Deadline 17 May 2016.
SPARK is a partnership project of the Arts Office and the Local Enterprise Office aimed at artists who are interested in working in new environments and companies who are interested in collaborating with artists and promoting creativity within their organisations.
This year’s residency at Priors presents a particularly exciting opportunity for artists that have an interest in Arts & Health and/or in high tech engineering. Priors was established in the 80s designing and making tooling for different manufacturing companies. It now specialises in medical devises working with client companies from product concept and design through manufacture of tooling, quality control, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the manufacturing process throughout. Because the company seeks to anticipate the requirements of the sector, it is particularly attuned to how these products affect how people feel about their illnesses and how perception is influenced by design and aesthetic.
The closing date for expression of interest is 5pm, Tuesday 17 May 2016 by email to ckelly@leitrimcoco.ie. A site visit will follow at 11am on Friday 20 May in Carrick on Shannon.
