E.gress is a soulful and stirring film exploring the twilight world of dementia. The film was produced by artist Marie Brett and musician Kevin O’Shanahan following an intensive collaboration with the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Currently touring Ireland, E.gress will be shown at all-day screening events in Belltable, Limerick on 12 May and The Parade Tower, Kilkenny Castle on 26 May.

Discussion Event & Dance Performance | 2pm
Úna McCarthy, Director of Limerick City Gallery of Art, will share opening words. Guest speakers Dr. Alice Feldman, School of Sociology, University College Dublin, and Dr. Tracy Fahey, Head of Fine Art and Postgraduate Studies in Limerick School of Art and Design, will each respond to the artwork exploring issues of ethics in relation to the film and the collaborative process of making the work.
Dancer Angie Smalis will present a dance/movement response to the artwork in tandem with a screening of the film. Artist Marie Brett, guest speakers and Angie Smalis will then be joined in a conversation led by Dr. Susan Liddy, Department of Media and Communications, Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, followed by a Q&A.

Live Poetry & Discussion Event | 12.30-2pm
Bairbre-Ann Harkin, Butler Gallery Education Curator, will share opening words followed by a screening of the film. Poet Kerry Hardie has created a new poem in response to E.gress which she will present at the event. Artist Marie Brett will then be joined in conversation by Bairbre-Ann Harkin, Kerry Hardie and guest speakers, followed by a Q&A.
