Following the HSE’s ‘We’ve got a song to sing’ project, and the involvement of so many hospitals in the HMI/Lyric FM Workplace choir of the year competition, the Arts Committee of Cork University Hospital in conjunction with the South/South Western Hospital Group is hosting a celebration of Health Service choirs in Cork on 25 February 2017.Choirs and musical groups attached to Hospitals, Community Health Centres, Mental Health areas and other agencies involved in healthcare are invited to join with us in celebrating the wonderful music and song that is proving so beneficial in providing great entertainment to our patients and colleagues in addition to raising staff morale and general well-being.

So far, hospital choirs in Cork University Hospital, St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny and Wexford General Hospital have expressed an interest in participating in this inaugural gathering and we are hopeful that other choirs and groups from around the country will also support this very worthwhile initiative. Should the event prove successful, it is planned to make it an annual event that will be hosted in various locations around the country.

The event is scheduled for Saturday 25 February, in Cork University Hospital.

Each choir/group will perform 3 pieces of 12-15 minutes duration followed by a combined performance of a well-known choral favourite, which will be notified beforehand. A social evening will follow with music, food and drink as well as further opportunities for solo performers, party pieces etc. Visiting choirs will also have an opportunity to sing at a local church, hospital, etc, if interested.

Please RSVP before Monday 19 December to indicate if your choir would be interested in participating in this event to:
