Following on from the first Arts and Health- Check Up, Check In event which took place in Dublin in January 2016, artsandhealth.ie have joined forces with Create and the Arts Initiative in Mental Health, Sligo to bring you the second such event in May 2017.
Arts and Health- Check Up, Check In is a networking event for arts and health care practitioners and artists who work in healthcare settings and this year it will take place on 5May at The Model in Sligo.
The aims of the second Arts and Health Check Up, Check In event are to:
– Promote solidarity among arts and health practitioners
– Enable networking and peer support amongst practitioners
– Inspire practitioners to develop their practice
– Facilitate the exchange of ideas
With this in mind, the keynote speech curated by Create will take the form of a conversation between Patrick Fox of Heart of Glass UK and Mark Storor, an acclaimed and award winning artist, who works in the space between live art and theatre.
There will be a series of paired presentations exploring the nature of collaborative working between artists and healthcare professionals. Members of Arts and Health Coordinators Ireland (AHCI) will present their collective manifesto developed at Tyrone Guthrie Centre in December 2016 and participants will have an opportunity to meet their peers in facilitated discussion groups. Artist Naomi Draper will employ various creative devices to allow entry points into conversations that encourage listening and exchange.
