St Francis Hospice and visual artist Marie Brett have been awarded an Arts Council Artist in the Community Scheme Project Realisation Award for 364/24, a new filmic artwork by Marie exploring experiences of the moment of death.
Marie will be collaborating with palliative care staff at St Francis Hospice, Dublin and the work is supported by scholars at The National Folklore Collection and University College Dublin’s College of Social Science and Law, where Marie was artist in residence for 2016.
In 2018, the new artwork will be presented with St Francis Hospice and the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), with discussion events.
Marie Brett is an award-winning visual artist based in Ireland’s South West. She has extensive experience of making artwork with and about people’s sensitive life and death experiences.
This AIC award received from the Arts Council is managed by Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts in Ireland, and the work is additionally supported by University College Dublin Parity Studios and the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).
