Aistriú is the latest exhibition from The Art Room at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar. The Art Room is facilitated by artist Tom Meskell and takes place every Friday in a purpose built room at the hospital. The exhibition will open at The Linenhall Arts Centre on 1 September 2017.

The exhibition comes at a time when the hospital is going through massive changes, with the completion of the extension due in early 2018. The participants of The Art Room want to celebrate the work that has been made to date, to mark the end of one era of the arts and the beginning of another. The work is developed in some cases over years to reflect the creative vision of the participants. Most of the work represents people currently resident at the unit and other pieces are by people who have recovered and returned home.

The Art Room is funded by the HSE with additional funding for materials from Mayo County Council Arts Office and the Saint Vincent De Paul Society.

The official opening of Aistriú will take place on Friday 1 September at 2pm. All are welcome. The exhibition runs until 19 September.
