Event
Puzzle Paths Perspectives, the first solo exhibition by John McGuinness (Aongaise), runs from 13 September to 2 October 2017 at Cork University Hospital and is part of the hospital’s Culture Night programme on 22 September.
Aongaise’s art practice incorporates illustration, watercolour and oil painting. He started Puzzle Paths Perspectives in 1998. The work focuses on the paths we take in our lives and how to best connect with those around us. The puzzle is the main theme throughout, our lives full of pieces that require observation and development.
Aongaise endeavours to produce art that challenges the viewer’s attitude to life and hopes to provide a visual journey through self-reflection. His use of expressive brush strokes and mark making allows for an expressive energy to be seen in his large-scale paintings. This translates to the smaller reproductions in print and can be seen in the Puzzle Paths Perspectives book. This limited edition publication will also be available for purchase.
John McGuinness (b.1959 in Ardee, Co. Louth) lives with his family in Glanmire, Co. Cork. John is a qualified Graphic Designer and formed his own company, Graphic Prism Limited, in 1985. He has previously exhibited in a number of group exhibitions such as Mind, Body & Spirit Festival and at Deep South’s Pop Up Gallery in Cork. www.aongaiseart.com
