Event
An exhibition by Emma Finucane will launch at Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray on 30 November 2017. The work is a response to the findings of a research project she instigated in UCD School of Nursing and Midwifery in 2014 with Dr. Maria Healy QUB (previous Head of Midwifery UCD) and Teresa McCreery, Domino Midwives, NMH, Holles Street.
Emma Finucane develops artwork through dialogue, process based, participatory and collaborative practice. Her work has frequently combined education, research and artistic practice.
Birth/Being Born developed from a residency at the UCD College of Health Sciences. Emma investigated the social, political and artistic implications of work around the subject of childbirth in contemporary art. Insights from this research highlight women’s lived experiences of childbirth via visual artworks and academic publications.
