Women on Walls at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in partnership with Accenture is a campaign that seeks to make women leaders visible through a series of commissioned portraits that will create a lasting cultural legacy for Ireland. This commission is for a series of new portraits for the Board Room located in RCSI’s historic building on St. Stephen’s Green. These portraits will recognise the pioneering achievements of eight extraordinary women and enhance the visibility of historical female leaders in medicine.

These female leaders are:

  • Dr. Victoria Coffey (1911 – 1999)
  • Mary Frances Crowley (1906 – 1990)
  • Dr. (Emily) Winifred Dickson (1866 – 1944)
  • Dr. Pearl Dunlevy (1909 – 2002)
  • Dr. Mary Josephine Hannan (1865 – 1935)
  • Sr. & Dr. Maura Lynch (1938 – 2017)
  • Dr. Barbara Maive Stokes (1922 – 2009)
  • Dr. Mary Somerville Parker Strangman (1872 – 1943)

Deadline for submissions: Wednesday 25 April 2018, 5pm

There is a total artist(s) commission and purchase budget of €120,000. These include:

  • Eight individual portraits to be commissioned and purchased from an artist for a maximum of €14,000 each VAT inclusive.
  • Each selected artist will be given a maximum of €1,000 for travel and artist expenses

Two site visits have been arranged:

  • Friday 16 March, 10.30am – 12.30pm. Register on Eventbrite before 13 March (5pm)
  • Tuesday 17 April, 10.00am – 12.00pm. Register on Eventbrite before 12 April (5pm)
