Event
Magical Geographies is a design and artworks exhibition by first year students of Art and Visual Communications at Wexford Campus School of Art and Design (IT Carlow). The exhibition launches at Wexford General Hospital on 8 May 2018 at 1pm and will run through 2018 and 2019.
These new works are displayed in the Emergency Department and Concourse, Link Corridor and Consultation Rooms at Wexford General Hospital. This is the fourth collaboration between the Hospital and the Art School. The collaboration was first initiated by the Community Development Department, Tusla Child and Family Agency in Wexford.
This new body of work from the students of Wexford Campus School of Art and Design explores a variety of processes and techniques with the predominant and recurring themes of mapping, orbits and animals.
‘We searched for lost islands, distant territories, the language of maps, some of us found magical animals hidden in the landscape, discovered strange colours in distant galaxies. We used many processes from woodblock printing, creative writing, drawing, making transfers or the art of frottage, collage and stitching, layering, dry point etching prints, we scanned our images and made large digital prints from our scans.’
Participating artists: Alexandra Walton, Laura O’Brien, Adam Culleton, Meabh O’Donovan, Alan Davis, Angela Sanina, Hau Fei Chan, Amy Davies, Eimear Murphy, Aaron Heaton, Tania Nogue Sans, Ellen Cloney, Elke O’Rafferty, Angela Young, Una Murphy, Ciara Byrne, Robert O’Connor.
