Helium Arts invites applications from multidisciplinary artists with a participatory arts practice and experience working with children and young people to apply for the role of ‘Creative Associate’ for Helium Arts’ Creative Health Hub initiative, to begin in January 2019.

About Helium Arts
Helium Arts is the national children’s arts and health charity, empowering children and young people living with illness through their creativity and the arts, inspiring those who care for them, and supporting creative healthy environments. Helium’s award-winning, participatory arts programmes take place in hospital and community settings across Ireland, led by professional artists. Since 2009, 4,700 children and their families have experienced the power of creativity through our projects.

Role description
This is a yearlong role, on a part-time basis (25 hours a week with the opportunity for additional paid work).

Helium Arts is seeking applications from artists who are genuinely committed to developing participatory arts practice with children and young people, which is responsive to the ideas and vision of the patients they are working with, and a deep understanding of creativity and its potential to transform the lives of children and young people. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of arts and health practice and possess strong administration and relationship building skills.

Applications are invited from multidisciplinary artists who can work across a minimum of three artforms; this can include any artform, but must include an element of the visual arts.

Recruitment is taking place for two Creative Associate positions – one for Limerick and one for Cork. There will also be a smaller freelance role available in Dublin.

Deadline for applications: Friday, 23 November 2018, 5pm.

Shortlisted candidates must be available for interview and to attend an interactive workshop on 11 December in Dublin.
