In the Making celebrates art made by older people in healthcare settings in Mayo. The exhibition runs at Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar until 5 June 2019 as part of Bealtaine Festival.
Since 2004, artists Bernie Garvey O’Mara, Irma van Baalen, Maggie Morrison and Tom Meskell have been facilitating art sessions at St. Augustine’s CNU in Ballina, McBride CNU in Westport, St. Colman’s Care Centre in Achill and Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar respectively.
This collaboration with older people has its roots in the Arts Service, Mayo County Council Mentoring Scheme that ran from 2004 – 2011 in partnership with HSE West.
