Mercer’s Institute for Successful Ageing (MISA) at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, will launch a series of Irish art on loan from the Arts Council of Ireland on 6 February 2020. Invited guest lecturer is Norma Daykin, Professor of Arts as Wellbeing at University of Winchester.

Lecture
Prof Daykin will present ‘Understanding the impact of arts on health and wellbeing’. Beginning with an overview of current research, the lecture will then consider how the arts can affect health and wellbeing and the potential for both positive and negative effects and experiences. Prof Daykin will also discuss current evaluation and research challenges for the field, suggesting a need to go beyond questions of evidence to understand the role of arts and health as a social movement, in order to address questions of movement recognition, development and sustainability.
