The Arts Council offers awards through the Artist in the Community Scheme to enable artists and communities of place and/or interest to work together on projects. The scheme is managed by Create, the national development agency for the collaborative arts.

The 2021 closing dates for application are:
Round One: 26 April
Round Two: 27 September

The scheme is open to artists from any of the following artform disciplines: architecture, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature (Irish and English language), music, opera, theatre, visual arts and traditional arts.

The projects can take place in a diverse range of social and community contexts such as arts and disability, arts and health, arts and older people, arts and cultural diversity and arts and communities.

The following awards are available:

  • Research and Development Award
  • Research and Development Award (with Mentoring)
  • Recent Graduate Research and Development Award (with Mentoring)
  • Research and Development Award with Mentoring for an artist from a minority ethnic or migrant background
  • Project Realisation Award

Online information session 
Create is hosting an online information session on applying to the scheme, with Áine Crowley, Programme Manager, Arts and Engagement, and artist Ruairí Ó Donnabháin, previous AIC Scheme award recipient. This will take place on Tuesday 23 February from 2-4pm. Book via Eventbrite here.
