Opportunity

The National Concert Hall’s community music programme Health & Harmony brings interactive music performances to dementia day care and respite centres throughout Ireland. The NCH is recruiting for a panel of musicians to deliver the programme.
Health & Harmony
The NCH presents Music for Dementia as part of their Learning & Participation programme. Health & Harmony brings music performance to people living with dementia, and their families and carers, in a programme of accessible and informal performances in Alzheimer’s day and respite care centres. The NCH vision for the programme is that anyone in Ireland living with dementia should have the opportunity to experience, and benefit from, listening to live music performance.
In Health & Harmony, pairs of professional musicians (singer and accompanist) visit day care and respite centres twice per month for informal performances. Focusing on well-known, popular material, audience participation is encouraged, with many sessions including sing-alongs and even solo pieces from the audience.
Where in person visits are not possible due to pandemic-related restrictions, the musicians may provide online performances, either as pre-recorded concerts or live events held via Zoom.
Open Call
Musicians from all counties are invited to apply. In particular the NCH seeks to expand the Health & Harmony programme in the counties of Clare, Tipperary, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, and Kerry. This expansion of the Health & Harmony programme is supported by the Rethink Ireland Ignite Midwest Fund and Tomar Trust.
Applicants are welcome to apply as individuals, or as a team (singer and accompanist).
Closing date for applications: Friday 29 October 2021.
