Dance Ireland and Age & Opportunity, in consultation with Dance Theatre of Ireland, are hosting a free online networking event on 3 December for dance artists, companies and organisations working with older people. The Floor is Yours! aims to strengthen and provide visibility for the sector and offers workshops, discussions and presentations from those working in the field nationally and internationally.
Programme overview
- Pandemic Perspectives: Assessing the impact of Covid-19: A panel discussion chaired by Dance Ireland CEO, Sheila Creevey, looking at the impact of the pandemic on the field of dance with older people from a medical, artistic and participant perspective.
- Case Study – Raise the Floor: Independent dance artists, Roisín Whelan and Helen Keenan, will discuss taking their first steps into this area of practice under extraordinary circumstances and across community and care settings. They will be joined by their mentors Anthea McWilliams and Catherine Donnelly.
- Sharing Practice – Workshop: A practical session hosted by Robert Connor from Dance Theatre of Ireland. Dance artists Ailish Claffey, Aoife McAtamney, Bhargavi Gopalan, Catherine Donnelly and Jenny Elliot share creative ideas and movement styles to add to your dance toolbox.
- Plenary: A reflection on the issues of the day.
