Helium Arts is the national children’s arts and health charity, developing the creativity of children living with lifelong physical conditions through the arts to support their wellbeing, including social connections, self-esteem, and sense of agency.
Helium Arts is seeking a motivated, experienced and highly organised senior manager to lead both the Programme and Operations functions of the organisation and to deputise for the CEO when required.
About the Role
The Programme and Operations Manager is a full-time role, managing the delivery of Helium Arts’ national Creative Health Hub Programme, while also leading on programme and operational development to deliver on Helium’s strategic goals and to ensure that Helium’s values are embedded in and permeate all activity. The new senior manager will establish and integrate a coherent and integrated framework for planning and delivering strategic priorities and ensure that all charity resources are effectively utilised.
This role will support the charity through a strategic period of gradual scaling, successfully growing and integrating their remote programme, hospital programme and community programmes in key locations, while also aligning operational goals to support this vision for growth. Acting as deputy to the CEO on operational matters, the senior manager will facilitate the day-to-day business of delivering the programme with overarching responsibility for planning, performance measurement, decision making, resource allocation, and staff management.
The Programme and Operations Manager requires excellent managerial, leadership, problem solving skills and an ability to strongly advocate for the children that Helium supports.
The senior manager will be flexible and capable of managing competing priorities within their workload and will have a robust knowledge of children’s participatory and collaborative arts with expertise and experience in child protection, health and safety, governance, human resources, systems development, and the not-for-profit sector.
This five-day a week role is new, developmental and strategic and merges the programme and operations oversight into one function, and is part of the senior management team.
Place of work is the Mullingar Head Office with remote working options. The senior manager will be present in the Mullingar office for a minimum of once a month and more when required. Occasional travel to programme locations of Cork, Limerick, and Galway will be required as will travel to Dublin to attend board meetings and other events/meetings.
