Bealtaine Gathering 2022

The Gathering is an annual networking event for the community of event organisers, artists, partners and supporters of Age & Opportunity’s Bealtaine Festival which takes place each May and celebrates the arts and creativity as we age.

The Gathering is a day of networking, showcasing good practice, discussion and feedback on the festival. It provides Age & Opportunity with an opportunity to hear about the challenges and needs of the organisers, showcases interesting and inspirational events from the previous festival, and provides practical supports for local organisers.

This year’s Gathering, the first in-person event since 2019, will look at different issues of diversity as they relate to older age and includes presentations on gender balance in the arts, older LGBTQIA+ communities, intergenerational projects and the experiences of older artists.

The keynote speaker is Patricia Scanlan, one of Ireland’s best-known and most popular authors, who will reflect on writing and ageing.
