Dance Theatre of Ireland’s dance classes for people living with Parkinson’s (Dancing Well with Parkinson’s) and Dementia (Movement to Music inclusive of Dementia) are now open for registration for spring 2023.
Dancing Well with Parkinson’s, In-person
Dance Theatre of Ireland, Bloomfields Centre, Lower Georges St, Dun Laoghaire

Fridays, 12.30 -1.30pm
Dancing Well with Parkinson’s is an award-winning programme developed by Dance Theatre of Ireland Artistic Directors and Founders Robert Connor and Loretta Yurick and offered with the support of the HSE National Lottery Fund and in association with Move4Parkinsons. DTI is part of the international Dance for PD programme, a world-wide movement to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.
This dance class will seamlessly guide you through a series of simple, modern and creative dance movements and exercises focusing on musicality, expression, rhythm and flow while improving your balance, fluidity, flexibility and strength. The dance sessions will empower you in a refreshing and enjoyable way.
Full term €90 for 10 weeks. Advance registration required.

Dancing Well with Parkinson’s, Online via Zoom

This is a modern dance class for People with Parkinson’s and their care-partners. Focusing on musicality, rhythm, expression, connection and joy, this one-hour ‘do as you are able’ activity promotes freedom of movement and creativity. DTI is part of the Dance for PD membership programme, a dance method which is proven to improve physical and emotional wellbeing for people with Parkinson’s in over 100 communities around the world.

Movement to Music inclusive of Dementia, In-person

Wednesdays 1.45 – 3.15pm (from 25 January)
This in-person gentle dance class is inclusive of people with Dementia and families / care-partners. Focusing on musicality, rhythm and expression, this one-hour ‘do as you are able’ activity promotes joyful wellbeing for everyone. DTI is part of the HSE Living Well with Dementia CHO 6 programme, a community-based project that supports people with dementia to continue to live at home and participate in their own community.
