Anam Beo invites professional practicing artists to apply to be a part of its mentoring programme. The purpose is to support sustainable arts and health practices and contexts in Offaly.
Anam Beo is an arts and health organisation and collective of artists delivering collaborative projects with older people in residential and community settings in Offaly. The organisation was developed in 2005 with support from Offaly County Council Arts Office and HSE Dublin Mid Leinster.
For this mentoring programme, artists must have a specific interest in developing their professional skills and best practice to work in the area of arts and health with older people in care and community settings.
Artists must demonstrate a commitment to using participatory/collaborative methodologies and be available to work in Tullamore and Ballinagar, Offaly.
Programme details
Two selected artists will work with Anam Beo artists on a paid mentorship of €4,000 each (in line with the Arts Council’s Paying the Artist policy).
Following the mentoring sessions, the successful artists will have a project placement at a care setting for up to 10 sessions.
The programme will run from September 2023 – March 2024 and includes 40 hours of mentoring. The selected artists will benefit from the following:
- Practical guidance and advice.
- Focus on artist practitioners’ creative practice and professional development.
- Nurture, support and reassurance from the mentors.
- Shadowing, planning and delivery of a developed project in a care setting.
