Our Vision Our Voice 2023 is the continuation of a six year collaboration between Mullingar Mental Health Association, HSE Mental Health Services (service users and Occupational Therapy staff) and visual artist Rosaleen Heavin.
Sustaining Our Mental Health through Sustaining Our Environment is the theme for this year’s project and exhibition. Rosaleen collaborated with participants of all ages attending the mental health services in Westmeath to explore how the environment impacts our wellbeing.
This year’s exhibition, curated by participants, uses recycled materials and a variety of media (photography, painting, ceramics, writing and video) to inform viewers about challenges and positives experienced by participants on their sustainability journey.
About the Project
Our Vision Our Voice is a co-produced inclusive programme supporting people on their journey of recovery by encouraging their abilities, helping them to learn a new skill, and promoting independence and inclusion. Grant funded by Creative Ireland and Westmeath Arts Office for many years, the project aims to make art accessible and create an awareness of how it can become a part of people’s lives.
Exhibition launch
The official opening takes place on 10 October at 5.30pm in Mullingar Library to celebrate World Mental Health Day. Martin Rogan, CEO of Mental Health Ireland, will perform the honours.
